As a writer, I am obsessed with how other writers, whether that be in books or manuscripts, work. What grabs the audience? Why does one book grip me from start to finish and another feel like a slog? How does another create such vivid characters or settings? But the ultimate, is the creation of that moment - the perfect sequence of actions, buildup, tension. Often there is no words, just the feel.
My first memory of this is from Pride and Prejudice, the movie, not the BBC miniseries whose lake scene sends many into a frenzy. No, it is the scene when Darcy helps Elizabeth into the carriage, their hands touching for the first time. As he walks away the camera zooms in on as he stretches his fingers out, like the touch had send electricity through him. That moment took on a life and a title of its own. Search Mr. Darcy's Hand Flex and articles, clips, and memes pop. That small moment speaks volumes, and it sets the bar for all my future moments.
